Museum and Cultural EducationLocation(s): Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody
The City of Coquitlam Archives preserves and makes accessible the records of enduring value of the City of Coquitlam as well as records of businesses, organizations, and private individuals that are of significance to the municipality and deemed worthy of long-term preservation. We have over 225 linear meters of material and close to 1 million individual photographs in our collection.
Over the course of the three week field experience, a student would create an educational resource kit that connects archival material from the City of Coquitlam Archives to specific learning outcomes in the BC curriculum. The kit would provide links, activities, primary source handouts, and worksheets that would promote archival literary, develop research and critical thinking skills, and deepen understanding of a given topic.
We propose that the first two weeks of the field experience could focus on the creation of the resource kit and then the third week could include testing the kit in a classroom environment.
Student will be required to supply their own meals.
