Career development is a major focus in the education system in British Columbia, and it is now required in K through Grade 12. The various programs provide students with current and relevant information about career options and are designed to enhance the goal of career development. Learn about the ways teachers help support students in elementary and in secondary schools.

Secondary

Experience working at the Delta School District office with the Student Options and Opportunities Coordinator who helps support all Delta schools with career education and career programs. Teacher candidates will have the opportunity to meet with students and schools to assist them with their career goals. They will work in an office environment assisting with a variety of projects which include interviewing students about work placements, organizing a career talks, helping with lesson plans, connecting with community partners, helping with a Trades Fair and more. The overall experience will be determined by the interests and strengths of teacher candidates.

Elementary

Experience working at the Delta School District office with the Student Options and Opportunities Coordinator who helps support all Delta schools with career education, career programs and ADST. Teacher candidates will have the opportunity to work with schools to assist them with their career education needs. They will work in an office environment and/or schools directly assisting with a variety of projects which include organizing career talks, promotion of career programs, booking guest speakers, field trips, creating ADST and career resources for teachers and more. The overall experience will be determined by the interests and strengths of teacher candidates.

Associated Costs:
Travel to/from the placement, field trips, site visits and Delta schools, as well as lunch and snacks while on site.
