District Resource Center – SD 38

The sd38 Richmond District Resource Centre (DRC) supports schools by providing relevant, quality resources to support instruction. The DRC circulates a broad variety of resources including Aboriginal resources, maker materials (tools, robotics, Lego, green screen, coding etc.), French Immersion support (book sets, kits etc.), ELL support, hands-on kits (science, math, technology, Kindergarten, outdoor learning, literacy etc.), professional reference books and technical journals/periodicals, novel sets, lit circle sets, graphic novels, musical instruments and band charts and more. The DRC also manages the district databases and provides inservice to staff on digital literacy and digital citizenship. A three week practicum here could include opportunities to learn the tasks of Teacher Librarians, assist in the management and development of the DRC collection and its circulation, and support digital literacy initiatives.
