Evans Lake Forest Education Society

Teacher candidates will have a primary role in developing environmental & outdoor education curriculum for an organization that hosts thousands of Lower Mainland and Sea-to-Sky Corridor students every year. The TCs' work is based at the Evans Lake Forest Education Centre in the Paradise Valley (Squamish, BC).

Teacher candidates will first learn about our society's educational focus and existing programs, and our typical visitors and their learning goals. Then we will start drawing together rich content threads so that teachers who visit our centre have high-quality lesson plans that are site-specific and take advantage of our beautiful coastal forest and lakeside locale. Interested students should have a zeal for the outdoors, dirty hands, smiling faces.

Because Evans Lake offers our educational programs year-round to a variety of age groups, the groups that are on site during the students' three-week field experience may not be the age group that the students are accustomed to. However, the lesson plans and content development will be able to be used for the intended age group and audience.

Associated Costs:

Costs of travel to our site in Squamish is the responsibility of the CFE candidates. Amongst our staff team, we can occasionally car-pool from Vancouver. If taking the bus, Greyhound tickets are ~$20 and we can pick you up from the Squamish North/Garibaldi North depot.
