Our outdoor & garden classroom is alive at this time of year! Teacher candidates are invited to immerse themselves in a unique teaching assignment. At Homma, when teachers receive their prep time, the children head outdoors, rain or shine, for cross-curricular experiential learning in the garden classroom. Teacher candidates can expect to see an emergent curriculum in action, place based learning, and a healthy belief in slow pedagogy as well as the academic, social & emotional value of nature play.
Teacher candidates are invited to prepare lessons to expand our students’ knowledge on local ecosystems, or organically join into the rhythm of our play and learning. No specific gardening skills are required, but an interest in learning more about school specific gardening skills, while digging in the dirt is helpful.
