Kenneth Gordon Maplewood School and Maplewood Alternative High School offers teacher candidates a unique placement opportunity in the field of special education. KGMS and MAHS are recognized as leaders in teaching children with learning difficulties that include the acquisition, organization, retention, understanding and use of verbal and nonverbal information. These learning difficulties often affect children who otherwise demonstrate average or above-average abilities essential for thinking and reasoning.
As a dynamic, innovative, and highly collaborative teaching environment candidates have opportunities to experience teaching students with special needs in a supportive environment. Candidates can be placed in a co-teaching role (K-9), senior high school teacher (10-12), or various resource teaching roles including; social emotional learning, language arts, and math.
