Project Learning Tree Canada

Theme: Sustainability/Environmental Education

Location(s): Outside the Lower Mainland,Vancouver

Project Learning Tree Canada (PLT Canada) believes in a society that values and benefits from sustainably managed forests and the great outdoors. We are committed to using trees and forests as windows on the world to inspire action and grow future forest and conservation leaders. Our environmental education and professional development services, which include high-value work experiences and an industry-leading mentorship program, support youth across Canada on their green career pathways, including those in rural, Indigenous and urban communities. We are a bilingual charitable organization and an initiative of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI). PLT Canada welcomes teacher candidates to work closely with our Education team on projects and programs that help to advance and promote forest literacy. Our program is characterized by three equally important components: high-quality instructional materials for grades PreK-12, carefully designed professional development and young professional mentorship. A three week placement would include learning the PLT Canada Forest Literacy Framework and how it can be applied in a combined formal/informal education setting while adapting and/or developing Ministry of Education aligned curriculum that moves students along the forest literacy continuum, empowering them to take actions that benefit forests and all of us.

Associated Costs:
Teacher candidates are responsible for costs traveling to/from the lower mainland program locations as well as for providing their own snacks and lunches. Online placements are preferred at this time with zero costs for participating teacher candidates.
