Purpose Secondary School is a tuition-free, fee-free, independent school for learners with special needs. The teacher candidate will work with students in the Grades 8/9 Program by implementing relationship-based, trauma-informed teaching strategies. A typical school day consists of 4 courses: Block A (9am - 10:20am), Block B (10:40am to 12:00noon), Block C (12:30pm to 1:50pm), and Block D (2:10pm to 3:30pm). The teacher candidate will be working with ADST 8/9, Math 8/9, Science 8/9, as well as alternating Physical & Health Education 8/9 (M/W) and Arts Education 8/9 (T/Th). Responsibilities may include teaching/leading lessons and learning activities, providing 1:1 and/or small group support to students, and attending team meetings. Depending on the comfort level of the teacher candidate, Week 1 will likely be observations and support, followed by the teacher candidate leading lessons/activities in Week 2 and 3.

We are 1 block from the New West Skytrain Station. There is no staff parking lot; paid street parking is available. Free parking is available a few blocks away.
