Description:The School Physical Activity and Physical Literacy project supports B.C. educators working in elementary schools and individuals enrolled in B.C. post-secondary educator training programs to: -Increase their level of confidence and competence when delivering the physical and health education curriculum; -Increase the number of minutes during the school day where they incorporate physical activity; -Increase their knowledge of physical activity as a mechanism to support student mental well-being; -Increase their knowledge of physical activity as a mechanism to support their own mental well-being; and -Increase their knowledge on Indigenous perspectives of health and wellness to support Indigenous students in a culturally safe way. The project will provide in-person and online professional development opportunities including workshops, webinars, elearning, mentorship and summer institutes. In addition, classroom and school resources will be made available online. Professional development opportunities and mentoring will be prototyped in First Nations, rural, remote and urban schools and districts in B.C. in 2021/22.
