Sea Smart

Based in Vancouver BC, Sea Smart’s school workshops, after school programs, and summer camps inspire and empower kids to love and protect our oceans.

Created by marine biologist Dr. Elaine Leung, Sea Smart uses fun, hands-on games and activities to teach youth in Kindergarten to Grade 12 about current issues impacting our oceans and get them brainstorming solutions in our school programs and summer camps.

Tasks can include:
  • Developing curriculum for school workshops, after school programs, and week-long summer day camps
  • Developing curriculum connections and learning objectives
  • Potential to work on a project to develop environmental sustainability courses that will be integrated into the BC curriculum
  • Teaching in-class workshops to K-12
  • Potential to teach at summer camps after the field experience
  • Developing curriculum for our online programs
  • Teaching our Virtual Sea School online school workshops to K-12
  • Note: the amount of time teaching will be dependent on how many school workshops are scheduled during your session. This CFE provides great opportunities to develop much-needed curriculum to meet the new BC Ministry of Education's requirements, in a stimulating and rewarding work environment.
