Southridge School – ISABC

Southridge is an independent school located in South Surrey and is part of CAIS (Canadian Accredited Independent Schools), The International Baccalaureate, and ISABC (Independent Schools Association of British Columbia). UBC CFE students can work with any of our faculty either within or outside of their teaching concentrations. Many CFE students have spent time in our Junior School working with students from Kindergarten to Grade 7. CFE students can teach classes, go on field trips, assist with service initiatives, help coach a team, be part of an outdoor education excursion, or run a club. Southridge has a unique teaching environment in the Senior School (Grades 8 – 12) where the Harkness Philosophy is implemented – a student-centered, discussion-based approach to education that challenges students to think critically and creatively. UBC CFE students may find it interesting and worthwhile to observe some classes and even try teaching a lesson or short unit using this approach. There are many clubs, athletics teams and fine arts opportunities to get involved in schoolwide. Our vision at Southridge is to be “a place where every spirit soars” and we are excited to welcome enthusiastic future teachers who are not afraid to roll up their sleeves and jump into a variety of opportunities that will challenge and expand their teaching experiences in meaningful ways.
