Theme: Youth at Risk
The students would get the opportunity to work with the teachers/students/support staff in a district Specialty Program at the elementary or secondary level. CFE students would learn to apply the planning, instruction, assessment and management skills they learned in their main practicum, but get additional experience learning to adapt these and develop specialized skills/knowledge, collaboration practice of working with our high needs learners in a targeted/intensive learning context. Ultimately, this would help them be more capable, inclusive regular classroom teachers, but might also lead them to want to teach within such Special programs. Programs could include:
Various alternative Ed programs: TREES, TREK, Growing Together...
Student would need to assume transportation, accommodation and living costs within an urban school community setting
