Take a Hike Youth at Risk Foundation

Take a Hike is a full-time alternate high school program that uses the outdoors and adventure to engage vulnerable youth in school, community and mental health supports. We provide full-time clinical counselors in each classroom to help students overcome barriers so they can achieve social and academic success, leading to high school graduation.

Experience with youth (particularly vulnerable youth) and proficiency in outdoor and sport activities is an asset. It is the teacher candidate's responsibility to initiate and/or create the projects they would like to work on while with us. Potential placements in both Vancouver, Delta and Burnaby school districts.

Associated Costs:

Volunteers are expected to bring their own food to class each day, and while we do out-days that might require some technical gear, we would likely be able to lend out gear if needed. Any costs for out-day activities are covered by the Foundation.

Volunteers need to be able to make it to the school each morning. If we go out for the day, we always start and end at the school. All transportation in between is taken care of by the program.
