UBC Geering Up Engineering Outreach

Join Geering Up as we teach in-school workshops and plan for our summer camps across Metro Vancouver. Each day you and a teaching partner will either be assigned to lead hands-on science workshops in schools or to help with the planning and preparing for our STEM summer camps. In both experiences, you will guide learners through the engineering design cycle as you demonstrate real-life applications of science and math.

You will also have the opportunity to aid in the planning and execution of one-day events and to be involved in the training of new undergraduate instructors, giving you the chance to share the knowledge and experience you have acquired throughout your program.

Geering Up UBC Engineering & Science for Kids is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to bringing STEM learning opportunities to Elementary and High School students. For over 23 years we've worked with schools and teachers across BC to deliver hands-on science workshops.

This is a great opportunity to get a sneak-peak into the field of community STEM outreach. Programs like Geering Up exist at science centres, museums, and universities across the country.

This is also a great opportunity to work inside a wide breadth of different schools and classrooms. Over your three weeks, you will have the opportunity to teach in over 10 different classrooms, getting to know the teachers who run them and the systems they use.
