Ocean Wise Conservation Association – Education

Our content connects to the Ocean Wise® direct action and research initiatives and advance participants along the conservation continuum. Our programs are aligned with the British Columbia provincial curriculum.

A placements at the Vancouver Aquarium usually involves a mix of observation, direct teaching, and an extra project. Some examples are:

Curriculum Programs|deliver multi-sensory workshops to students of all ages. We engage over 20,000 students per year in inquiry-based learning, led by a group of professional educators and biologists.

Children and Youth Programs| immersive ocean education experiences that foster love for our oceans through fun and interactive activities. The team engages over 9,000 children, youth and families in marine science annually.

Mobile Programs| the traveling education stream of Ocean Wise®. We bring ocean education to schools, youth groups, and communities coast to coast. To date we have engaged over 625,000 students, youth and community members.

Online Learning |an interactive environment that furthers understanding and connection to the ocean at education.ocean.org. We engage thousands of individuals, helping participants understand ocean literacy by integrating digital resources and user generated content within carefully structured curriculum.

Associated Costs:

Teacher candidates are responsible for costs traveling to/from the aquarium as well as for providing their own snacks and lunches.
