Vancouver Park Rangers (Junior Ranger Program)

Junior Ranger Pledge: "As a Junior Ranger I promise to teach others about what I learned today, explore other parks and historic sites, and help preserve these places so future generations can enjoy them."

The Junior Ranger Program will Educate, Entertain, and Inspire youth and families visiting Vancouver. The Junior Ranger Program will support the Vancouver Park Board Mandate to provide, preserve and advocate for parks and recreation to benefit all people, communities and the environment. The Junior Ranger program will be a resource for all teachers to facilitate safe and exciting outdoor learning in city parks.

Teacher candidates will work alongside the Lead Vancouver Park Ranger in Stanley Park. The teacher candidates will spend most of their time in the brand new Park Ranger Station at Second Beach, providing important education to visitors to the park while developing outdoor activities and nature safety tours for school groups and field trips that will be implemented into the Citywide Junior Ranger Program. Teacher candidates will also lend their support on the design of the Park Ranger Station and the Junior Ranger brand.

This is a unique opportunity to be an integral part of the Vancouver Park Board and City of Vancouver's Greenest City Initiative and Park Ranger Community Outreach programs.

Teacher candidates can invite their classrooms from their practicums on a field trip to the Stanley Park Ranger Station during their CFE experience to pilot their outdoor activities where the students will earn a Junior Ranger Badge. Teacher candidates will also support the Lead Ranger’s involvement in other exciting programs including Jane’s Walks, Stanley Park Ecology Society’s Eco Rangers, and Wild About Vancouver’s Tidal WAV event./p>
