Youth Mental Health Association (YMHA) is a youth-run organization that aims to raise awareness and destigmatize mental illness. YMHA's Project Development committee designs, develops and delivers event programs that reduce the stigma surrounding mental health through community outreach. YMHA's Project Development committee currently has a new project focusing on mental health and well-being at a young age. The events hosted by Project Integrate aim to offer activities and resources that guide young children and their families to integrate awareness for mental health and well-being into different aspects of their everyday lives. The events are meant to be interactive, fun, and lighthearted.
Teacher candidates would be able to host the Project Integrate events throughout several elementary schools in BC. This would be an incredible and rewarding chance to learn more about leadership skills, curriculum development, and interacting with young children. Project Integrate currently has workshop content developed for candidates interested in grades 4-5 and 6-7 to present to elementary school students. Candidates who would like to focus on grades 1-3 should note that they will be required to spend the first few days of the CFE period developing workshop content suitable to these grades- the YMHA content can be used as a guideline.
